Bushwhack Adventures is proud to bring sprint adventure racing back to the northeastern side of the Triangle area in 2012 - the Falls Lake Challenge! The FLC is designed to introduce new adventure racers to this exciting sport while also giving experienced adventure racers the chance to sharpen their skills.
EARLY REGISTRATION BONUS!! The first 20 teams to pay the event registration fee will be eligible to use a rent-free canoe in the event. These canoes are being provided by Bushwhack Adventures and Frog Hollow Outdoors and will be delivered to the put-in, complete with paddles and PFD's. You can sign up your team now on Chckpoint Tracker, and when the registration payment option is activated on August 12th, be one of the first 20 teams to pay and you'll be eligible to claim one of 20 rent-free canoes. Limit one rent-free canoe per team.
In this event, teams will be mountain biking, trekking, and paddling for 6 to 8 hours as they navigate their way to find checkpoint flags. Estimated distances in each discipline are: biking 20+ miles,trekking 5+ miles, and paddling 4.0 mile. Your mileage may vary, depending on your team's navigation skills. :)
The course format will be modified rogaine style, with teams having lots of freedom to choose the route they follow to find the checkpoints. The course will not be marked other than with the checkpoint flags themselves.
Scoring will be based on the accumulated point values of the checkpoints found. Some checkpoints are worth more than others, so teams get to use their brains as well as their bodies as they work out a winning strategy for accumulating the most points!
The event will start and finish at TBD. Check the Schedule for exact times. Expect some of the traditional Bushwhack perks like a technical race shirt, post-race meal, quality mytopo race maps and more!
First place teams in each Division will get their half of their entry fees back and a 50% discount towards a future Bushwhack Adventures event.
All participants will get a Falls Lake Challenge pint glass and a Bushwhack Adventures wicking shirt.

Race date: September 16, 2012
5 AM – 6:15 AM; Team check-in at TBD (Race HQ). NOTE: Team check-in will consist of registration paperwork confirmation and racer sign-in. Teams will get race maps and UTM coordinates at check-in. Some of the checkpoints may already be marked on the map.
6:00 AM; UTM plotting review (optional)
6:15 AM; Pre-race safety briefing at race HQ.
7:00 AM; Race Start at race HQ.
4:00 PM; Race Finish at race HQ.
NOTE: If the Start is delayed, the event cutoff time / Finish time will be set at 8 hours later.
4:30 PM; Post-race meal and awards ceremony at Finish area.

Registration fee is $75 per person, for teams of 1, 2, 3 or 4 people.
