2013 Bushwhack Adventures' Standard AR Gear List
Bushwhack Adventures is trying to simplify our events so you can focus on the fun! There will be one standardized gear list for all of our AR events. Any variations to this list will be noted on the specific Event page, but we'll try to hold these variations to a minimum!
Required Individual Gear:
- Each team member must have the following at all times during the event:
- Each team member must have the following while biking:
- Mountain bike (road bikes not recommended)
- Bike helmet, worn properly while on the bike
- Each team member must have the following while paddling:
- Type III PFD minimum, non-inflatable, worn properly while on/in the water
- Paddle (can be canoe or kayak paddle)
Required Team Gear:
- All teams must carry the following at all times during the event:
- Compass
- Working cellphone in a waterproof container, for emergency use only
- Pen or pencil
- Waterproof map/passport container
- Basic first aid kit (in case of arterial bleeding, comminuted bone fractures, etc) including:
- four 4"x4" compress bandages
- one 3" ace wrap bandage
- one roll of 1" waterproof medical tape
- All teams must carry the following while biking:
- Bike repair kit (such as patch kit, tire levers, extra tubes, tools)
- Tire pump or CO2 inflator
- All teams must have the following while paddling:
- Canoe(s) or kayak(s) (boats not are provided for teams)
- Bailer (bucket, cut-off milk jug, bilge pump, etc)
Note: Random gear checks will be performed during the event.
Recommended, but optional gear:
- UTM plotting tool (for locating or plotting CP’s on the race map)
- Extra compass
- Pack for carrying food, drink, required gear, etc for duration of course
- Camera, for capturing the scenery and how much fun you’re having
- Canoe/kayak portage wheels (some portages may be suitable for portage wheels)
