Bushwhack Adventures is proud to be the race organizer for The Minuteman Muster. The NC Minuteman Muster is a large scale community outreach initiative, for citizens of Wake and surrounding counties, designed to demonstrate the collaborative, multi-agency domestic response mission of the NC National Guard and its many Emergency Response partner agencies. Come see how the NC National Guard works with other agencies to help the community. Proceeds from the events will go to the NC National Guard Association Education Foundation.
Three race events are being held as part of the The Minuteman Muster:
In the Duathlon, participants will run an out and back 8K course on roads and paved greenways. The bike will be a 24K course on roads, paved greenways, and gravel bridle paths in Umstead State Park. The Duathlon can be done as a Relay.

In the Adventure Race, teams of 1 to 4 people will be biking and trekking as they use a map and compass to navigate to find checkpoint flags. Teammates stay together through the course. A special challenge on the course will involve a high ropes challenge activity. Estimated distances are 8K+ of trekking and 16K+ of biking. Your mileage may vary, depending on your team's navigation skills. :) There is no paddling in this race.
The AR course format will be modified rogaine style, with teams having lots of freedom to choose the route they follow to find the checkpoints. The course will not be marked other than with the checkpoint flags themselves.
Scoring for the AR will be based on the accumulated point values of the checkpoints found. Some checkpoints are worth more than others, so teams get to use their brains as well as their bodies as they work out a winning strategy for accumulating the most points! There will be a cutoff time of 4 hours, with point penalties deducted for each minute a team is late.
First place teams in each Division will get their half of their entry fees back and a 50% discount towards a future Bushwhack Adventures event. Registration link below.
All events will start and finish at the NC National Guard Headquarters / NC Military Center at 1636 Gold Star Drive in Raleigh, NC. Check the Schedule below for exact times. Expect some of the traditional Bushwhack perks like a race t-shirt, post-race meal, quality mytopo race maps and more!
